The Rasoda - Taste of Royalty

Margao, Goa

    • The Rasoda - Taste of Royalty reimagines the essence of North Indian hospitality and traditional Rajasthani warmththrough a minimalist yet soulful design language. Designed for Goa's beloved North Indian restaurant and mithai chain, the space reflects the philosophy of “ghar jaisa khaana, raja jaisi mehmaan nawaazi” - home-style food, served in an atmosphere of quiet grandeur. The design draws from the earthiness of Rajasthan's textures - terracotta, wood, and lime-inspired finishes - blending them seamlessly with contemporary Indian minimalism.

Design Language

Every material and form in The Rasoda was chosen to evoke comfort, nostalgia, and authenticity. The interiors are anchored in a soft, neutral palette - cement-finished ceilings, wooden furniture, and earthy stone textures that create a calm, grounded ambiance. Traditional Indian elements are woven subtly throughout:

  1. A chaat counter with terracotta roof tiles and a large wooden wheel that pays homage to Indian courtyards.
  2. Motif tiles in colorful geometric patterns that add vibrancy without overpowering.
  3. Track and ambient lighting that highlights textures and brass accents, balancing modern design with old-world charm.

The overall aesthetic is intentionally restrained yet expressive - echoing the quiet opulence of Rajasthan, interpreted for a contemporary Goan audience.
